Background: Contact dermatitis is an inflammatory skin disorder commonly experienced by healthcare workers, particularly nurses, due to frequent exposure to irritants and allergens in the workplace. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a primary preventive measure; however, inadequate knowledge and poor compliance with PPE use may increase the risk of contact dermatitis.

Purpose: To determine the relationship between knowledge level and compliance with the use of Personal Protective Equipment and the incidence of contact dermatitis among nurses at Bintang Amin Hospital (RSBA), Bandar Lampung, in 2025.

Method: This quantitative analytic observational study used a cross-sectional design. A total of 150 respondents were selected using total sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews and analyzed using the Chi-square test.

Results: Most respondents had good knowledge (93.3%) and high compliance with PPE use (98.7%). Contact dermatitis was identified in 23 respondents (15.3%). Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between knowledge level and contact dermatitis (p < 0.001). No significant relationship was found between PPE compliance and contact dermatitis (p = 0.545).

Conclusion: Knowledge level was significantly associated with contact dermatitis, whereas PPE compliance was not significantly associated with contact dermatitis among nurses at RSBA Bandar Lampung.
